Marco Massarotto Fatal Crash

Marco Massarotto is killed during the 2000 Rallye de l'Yonne. The Subaru Impreza WRX driven by Corsican Marco Massarotto landed awkwardly after a jump over the Pimançon crest, during the sixth special stage of the rally, 25 kms from Sens in the Yonne département, Bourgogne, France. It was a spectacular bump where the vehicles arrived at 140 to 180 km/h, Massarotto's car veered to the left side of the track and then turned sharply to the right, going off the paved road. The car hit a pole, rolled over at high speed and mowed several spectators - killing four of them, including a child. Massarotto was killed at the scene, his co-driver Philippe Delcroix and eight other spectators were seriously injured.

At the moment of the crash Massarotto-Delcroix were in 2nd position behind Philippe Jalouzot. After the accident the special stage was immediately stopped and the event was abandoned.

@MBPtheFirst Yeah, was the same kind of issue with a crash just months before Toivonen's fatal one, a Gr.B car plowed into the crowd and killed many if I remember.

Also, WTF was all that crowd doing there ? Standing at the exit of a jump like that is a potential deathtrap...
