NEHEMIAH PROJECT
Neh 2:20 The God of Heavens will give us success

Introduction:

The Project was first introduced in Feb. 2007 when a pioneer group of LCC worshippers see the vision of having a church for its growing members. Discussion was conducted and initial steps were taken. But for some reasons, the idea went into hibernation was shelved temporarily.

Currently, Lighthouse Christian Church is renting the gym of Fraser Valley High School. From the initial monthly rent of $750.00 in the early part of 2006, the rental rate now stands at 1k over. Because of the growing church population and the number of children that need to be taken care of during the service, untoward incidents happened from time to time and the church leadership occasionally received reminders from the school management.

During 2006 when the church moved from Tri City to Surrey, there were 100 official members, 173 in 2007, and reaches more than 227 worshipers by the end of 2008. During the last quarter of last year, more there were more than 20 guests that came into our Church and were eventually become regular members.

With the tremendous influx of church goers and the burden of catering to their needs especially for a place where church related activities could be conducted freely, a new group was formed to revive the initiative of studying and conducting ways and means to build a church. This initiative is called Nehemiah Project.

Group Composition

The effort of the current group shall employ a more focused vision - to raise funds to sustain the project. This process shall be facilitated by the Nehemiah Project Committee but will be related to all members of the church and shall encourage individuals who may be able to help; with feasible ideas and recommendations, to financially support this undertaking.

The Committee shall be composed of the following:

1. Overall Coordinator
2. Finance Coordinator
3. Drawings/Feasibility Study Coordinator
4. Fund Raising Coordinator
5. Solicitation Coordinator
7. Committee Secretary
6. Building/Land Coordinator (shall include permits, etc.)
7. Advisers

All head coordinators shall comprise the Secretariat which shall be the governing body of the Project. It is recommended that a youth or young professional (GYCO) be a member of the Secretariat to represent the younger generations.

Each of the coordinators shall form a group of his own who will work together to attain their objectives. Any ideas or proposals, such as fund raising, solicitations, etc, shall be discussed and approved by the Secretariat.

Time Table

It was originally proposed that within 3-5 years, this vision shall be realized. With this in mind, the Secretariat shall give regular updates on the progress of this endeavour.

The Buidling

Depending on the size, location and status of the property to be acquired, the church shall be composed of the following:

Sanctuary - the most holy place in the building.
Pastors Residence
Pastors office
Conference Room
A room for each Ministry
Nursery Room
Kitchen/Dining Hall
Others


Design of the building shall be initiated by the Drawing and Building Coordinators and shall be discussed and approved by the Secretariat.


Funding

As this project will cost more than a million dollars to realize, a thorough and proper monitoring of funds shall be implemented. All funds generated shall be forwarded to the Church Finance Ministry for the issuance of receipts. This shall be deposited under the Building Fund accounts. The Nehemiah Project Finance Coordinator shall be responsible for the funds related to the Project. He/She shall coordinate with the Church Treasurer for any withdrawals in the name of the Project. All cash advances shall be liquidated within 10 days from the date of purchase.

Recommendations

Being an initial concept of the Project, it is suggested that each Coordinator form his own members to formulate and discuss what must be done in order to carry out the tasks within the groups area of responsibility.

Note:

This concept aims to serve as a spring board to come up with a more tangible approach for the realization of the Vision.
