One of the common Mormon messages is that the LDS Church is special because it has no paid clergy. Is this true? In recent years, Mormons have had to admit that that what LDS missionaries and church members told people for years is not true. General authorities receive a "living allowance" (the word "salary" may make them uncomfortable), but the details of these living stipends are kept top secret. The details of these salaries are available in records in the LDS Church's office building in Salt Lake City, but have not yet been leaked online.

How much do LDS general authorities make?

  • A living stipend is NOT a salary! When i was a missionary for the mormon church, i received a monthly allowance of $80, hardly a "salary" worth working for! We serve in the church for the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, not for money!
