Hart is just one of many Democrats including - Bill Cinton, John Edwards, Anthony Weiner, Charlie Rangel, Bill Jefferson, Rod Blagojevich and other- who are nothing more than common criminals! And of course, since they are Democrats, they get by with it!

@swami1 Agreed - no one would have beaten RR that year. Little known but true fact told to Newsweek reporter who had to hold it until after Nov. election: that if Mondale had lost two of the three Southern primaries Super Tuesday he would have dropped out. Hart won FL, Mondale won Alabama (with a good black vote) and Mondale won GA by only 4-5K votes! Imagine if Hart was able to swing 2500 voters or pull in another 5000.

@tommiej3 Yes, I agree he probably would have gotten the nomination. The bottom dropped out after Illinois. But he wouldn't have beaten Reagan. Reagan was unbeatable that year. Hart might have won a couple more states than Mondale did, though, and would have positioned himself well for '88 (until Monkey Business, of course).

Gary Hart would have made an excellent President. He probably would have won in 1988 if it weren't for Donna Rice. Such a shame.
