alice in chains

@aggiebem I agree. I've hypothesized Cantrell put himself upfront for the majority of the album so older Alice fans could warm up to DuVall (aka "the new guy"). DuVall is obviously the better singer, but long time fans and/or Layne apologists would criticize Alice for shoving DuVall down their throats and just letting him sing lead on everything. Now more people want DuVall up front for the next album in the role that Layne had on their previous albums because he performed so well.

@jedsebastian Of course Jerry's not the lead vocalist and of course he's the driving force behind AiC. But most of the album's mixed with his voice up front, not Duvall's, which sounds more to me like a Jerry solo album, not AiC. So I'd like to hear more songs like this, with Duvall up front. I still like the album and AiC is my favorite band, but Jerry up front sounds more like solo Jerry to me, not AiC. Know what I mean? And Duvall's got a killer voice and range.

@aggiebem just in case you forgot, jerry is not the lead vocalist, he is the guitar player, who isnt just a guitar player but in my opinion this band would never have existed without cantrell. the guy no doubt is the main force brhind the band, he can always get someone to sing for alice and he writes the fucking songs as alice in chains, take this one for example, do you think if layne was alive can still write heavy shit like this? i loved layne, of course he sung better than cantrell.

jerry understands that die hard alice fans are always hungry of riff and heavy guitar tones like this, and he fucking always deliver one way or another. RIFF LORD!!!!

I saw AIC 3 days ago playing in maquinaria fest in my country for the first time ever. And as a huge fan of Alice and Layne, i must say that Duvall voice its amazing, truly powerful, its kinda gay and shit but whatever is his style and i respect that. Cantrell is god and the rest of the band was amazing too, sean its one of my favorite drummers

@stavroswrc -Yeah I just noticed that recently after hearing this song so many times!! LOL

@darkahnubis omg.. i ve listened that acoustic riff but i havent noticed that it was taken from thanks anyway.. you re very clever bro

If you listen VERY carefully at the very beginning of this song, you could hear the intro acoustic guitar riff to "Thanks Anyway" from Jerry Cantrell's solo album Degradation Trip. I'm surprised no one noticed that.
AIC still has the same dark, powerful vibe. I can dig it
