my father in law was an ovaltiney
-
i remember that one with the rain.

Nothing like the original ...the accents are different, the sound quality is fake and the orchestral backing is modern. No good,

In celebration of this I am making sure that I have a mug of Ovaltine in a few minutes' time as it is now twenty five minutes past eleven on a warm late September evening after a reall lovely warm sunny day and it's time for bed now...made with semi skimmed milk heated up in a pan on the gas hob before I add two heaped spoonfuls of Ovaltine to it and then stirred well. Goodnight children, everywhere! Sleep tight, hope the bugs don't bite....ha ha!

It is so, so, so 1930s. The rhythm of the music and the manner in which it is played by the orchestra, but more particularly for the style of the singing by the children with their very clear cut enunciation of the upper class English of the time - many, many years before it all went downhill with sloppy Estuary type English of the 2010s. Listen carefully and you will hear them say "llittle" and not "li'l"! This was recorded in London in January 1937 - almost 75 years ago now.

I did the party dance to this on holiday one time......never again :)

I admit I enjoy my laptop because I can use it as a means of emotional escape just like it was in my previous life.I often get told I'm old fashioned which I guess is true because I'm always tight with my money as if thing are on ration and I often complain about the lack of discipline in young people today. If they ever make a time machine and need a volunteer to pilot I'd put my name forward, even if it was a one way journey

I know I'm bound to get called crazy or other such things, but I believe in reincarnation because I am only 33 and obviosly wouldn't have been around during the war but I feel emotionally out of place in this era yet everything from world war two era seems all too familiar to me and I can recall places and memories which aren't from this life.Everytime I hear this song now it makes me cry because part of remembers it from when it was first played.I was an an evacuee before this life

The original sounded much more lah-di-dah. Like the Queen.
Shame we haven't got the original 30s version on You TUbe.
The band sounds much nicer in that.
There is a bit of it in an 1980c TV commercial, with an old Standard car in the rain.
Ovaltine produced a promo EP of some good original 30s tracks, which I had until I lent it to a "friend"... which is always a mistake! It had an orange label with OVALTINE in black letters.
