Bittersweet ballad sung in the "Gene Krupa Story" (© Columbia Pictures 1959) as love life of Gene Krupa (Sal Mineo) crumbles and he considers starting his own band. O'Day appears as herself, a lounge singer clearly seen, clearly heard, and identified by name. Permission to post is pending from Sony Corp., who bought Columbia TriStar. Here's hoping Sony rereleases the movie!

  • Fans of O'Day might be glad to check 'face book' for one or two fan pages.

  • Really love this movie. Can you post just the opening credits, like from the Columbia Logo to the part where Mineo is walking down the street with he new drums?

  • @brandashusband Sorry no. It's really not convenient for me to digitize the analog files. I suggest you look for a copy of the VHS or DVD on eBay or YouTube or NetFlix, as I did. I have no interest in the movie. I am all about O'Day. Thanks for your interest though.

  • Does Anita sing another song in the movie??

  • Sadly, no. I wish she were featured more, but this was maybe all they could do with her, considering the liberties they were taking with history.

  • Thanks ! Is it the only appearence of Anita O'Day in this movie ?

  • @kevlille

Yes, the only one I noticed. Krupa consulted in the film making, so I will listen closely to the background music. Her cameo, however, is identified by her name in the chaptering of the DVD, out of print as of January 2011.

  • I'm a major O'Day fan, so really appreciate being able to hear and see her here. Thx.

  • Thanks for posting,I'm a big fan of her work.

  • P.S. Gotta love that Gibson L-5 guitar sound.

  • Just watched this movie on TV and I LOVED this scene. Rewound this song 3 times to watch it again. So I ran a search to see if this song was up on youtube and found your clip. Funny, as I was watching this scene in the movie, I wondered why they didn't show the singer more.It turns out, they edited it out of the version of the movie I just saw. To bad. So I especially appreciated your clip for that reason. It had face shots of Anita singing that were not in the movie I just watched. Thanks

  • Wow! I had heard bad things about this movie so I never had any interest in it. But this scene is amazing. Thanks for posting.

  • @powenmoore ohhh, true true.. I think I'll get my own copy of it, just for the Anita bit!
