Orthokeratology or corneal molding as featured on ABC News. For more information, visit us at http://www.TotalEyeCare.com/Ortho-K.htm or http://TheEyeDocBlog.com/tag/orthokeratology/
Accelerated ortho-k uses contact lenses, worn while you sleep, to reshape the cornea allowing you to see clearly during the day. Some studies have shown that orthokeratology can also prevent the progression of nearsightedness in children.

  • yes it prevents the nearsightedness from becoming worse

  • @letthemxeatcake I'm -4.50. Would'nt won't to put them in every night. If it was every other night then that would be alittle better. A whole week that would be sweet. I don't remember what my power was at 17 but 18 I was -3.75. Your power will probably get stronger but then again wearing this contact lens might pervent your nearsightedness from getting weaker. Wonder if my nearsigtedness would have stayed low if I use this contact as a 10 year old. I'm 25 now.

  • @tigerboyX

It all varies from person to person. I have a cousin who wears Ortho-Ks as well and she can go up to a week without the contacts. For me, unfortunately, I can only go a day without wearing them. I'm thinking it's because of your prescription (mine is about -5, my cousin's is about -2).

  • @letthemxeatcake how many days can you skip before needing them again?

  • I'm -4.40. Would love to have 20/15 vision without glasses or contacts. Wonder how long it would take.

  • @UnitedTulips

Yes it is, I myself have used it for merely a month, and I was -3.25 for both eyes. I now can see 20/15 unaided throughout the day! Breakthrough cutting edge technology indeed. :)

  • this is from 2002... is it still cutting edge if its 8 years old?

  • @ccyn042

    You're welcome :)

  • thanks! i'm definitely going to talk to my eye doctor about this.

  • @ccyn042 They can get uncomfortable, but the thing is, you get used to it. They can also make your eyes very dry, but overall, I find it a very good alternative to glasses and contact lenses.
