I have been doing my oil changes on Harleys for 41 years.Food for thought: Your top end is starving for oil for a good 60-90 secs. on start up.Fill new filter 3/4 full before install. you may spill some til you get the hang of it. Never use filter wrench to install new filter. Use both hands to tighten filter. I wrap a piece of inner tube around filter to get good grip. I just replaced oil filter mount on a Harley where owner used filer wrench. $92.90+ labor at H-D. I did labor for free.
Yea, as a machine tool builder, I've never seen Loctite installed on anything that has an o-ring. Also, Loctite does not like to set up if it not a clean/dry or active metal.
The size for the primary Torx is T27. Also you don't have to scrub the white debris completely from the threads, just make sure they are wiped clean and there's no excess. You cranked that oil filter on way too tight, it won't come off so relax a bit.
If you're going to do a "how to" video you should at least make sure you are doing things the proper way. You even say it yourself "I don't know if that's the right way or not."
again clean around the area befor u put it back on! break cleaner works great and the use a air house to blow it off and u only hand tighten it on! holy shit man suprise u havnt striped the threads out yet. but u do have a sick bike love the all black and the bars! but id get different rims on it or atleast get spokes in the back blacked spokes woulb be awsome!
@Hog0611 and alway clean around be for and after u change the oil. dont use lock tight on the drain plug just the cover bolts and always replace the seal and torx to the recomended seating if u can or just firmly tighten it the lock tight will do the wrest
@Hog0611 have ur bike standing straight up (not on the stand!) on a level ground and fill the oil tell it touches the clutch u only want like a 1/4 inch of the clutch submerged in oil and if u have a lowering kit in just the front or just the back it will be wrong then unless u have an even lowering kit and if u have a bike older then 2000 i would not recomend synthetic in the the primary cause it can make the clutch slip
I do have a queston. When you added the fluid to the primary case, how did you know it was full? I do not want to overfill mine so is there a landmark that will let me know i have added enough fluid? Thank you for the video and nice bike. I have an electra glide. I am like eveyone else and can not afford to go to the dealer for every service. Any help anyone can give would be great.
@MrCrow1963 You read my mind. Gotta put oil in the filter for twin cams. GREAT video. You explain everything so that my 8 year old daughter could do this.
