PLEASE COMMENT! The following is part of a video-only walkthrough of "The Empire Strikes Back" title for the original Nintendo. There are ten levels total.

LEVEL 4: Dagobah
Essentially a level that sets up your Jedi Training, the first area of Dagobah introduces Luke to the deadly flora and fauna of the planet. Vines must be cleared of snakes, there are mynocks all over the place, and the spiders are strong and deadly. No new Force Powers are introduced in this level, so the idea is to find Yoda. Since that's the only goal and feature, the level should be completed quickly and without unneeded exploration. Fighting off the enemies in nonessential areas will do more harm than good.

Most people never got through the first few levels of this flawed, but impressive NES game. As such, most online reviews and videos are done only with the first Hoth level as reference. Since few online resources even have screenshots of later levels, these videos are meant for illustrative purposes so gamers can see what they missed.

  • Least favorite level for me, too.

  • If I remember right, this the Dagobah levels were the last I recorded for this walkthrough before I uploaded the entire set. Did not look forward to the replay.

This was the level that most people gave up at, if they ever finished level 1. It has a very old-school, 8-bit mentality... leaps of faith, mistakes punished by sending you to the beginning of the level (if you're lucky), and Mega Man-esque absurd level enemies: the praying mantis and jumping slug come to mind. And no passwords.

  • Hope this doesn't annoy you too much, but you missed a Force power that I just happened on. It's on one of the very tall trees near the end. I don't know if it's hypnosis or not yet.

  • I think I know what you're talking about... but since the Graphic Eye is so freaking useless, I usually wait until Cloud City to pick it up. It's right on your path there and doesn't require any fighting...

  • There's one part where I find it very useful. In the next level, when you're on the little bridge going over the water, when that big bug comes at you suddenly and tries to knock you into the water. I've never been able to jump out of the way of it in time and the hypnosis graphic eye saves me every time. Admittedly, it's probably the only spot it works, but I do believe it has a good use.

  • Really? I'll try that.

  • Yep end of the line for me in this game! All he times I played I can NEVER finish it! Near the end of running round Dagobah looking for Yoda where it ends for me.

  • @outlier1985 swamp

  • fuckin tree basilisk! aaaagh! giant praying mantis! vinesnakes! periscope slime!

  • fuckin tree basilisk!

  • I love Dagobah on both this and the SNES game, but in either version it ends on a rather difficult note. Habogad in the SNES version is a right sod to beat!

  • This level was HELL when I was younger. Damn. xD

  • @SpyroSkaterX Dagobah is a jungle planet. o_O

  • Doesn't Dagobah have lava all around it.

  • I remember every step of this. I must have played it ten thousand times before I finally got to Cloud City. And I had to use hypnosis on the preying mantis.
