WWL-4 in New Orleans interviews Ira Glasser, president of the Drug Policy Alliance, who explains how racial discrimination is perpetuated through America's harsh drug laws. Money line: "Al Capone did not shoot people because he was drunk. Nobody gets shot for selling cigarettes. It's the prohibition law that creates the crime, not the drug."

  • DO NOT rely on one man to end the war on drugs. Dr. Ron Paul has some progressive views, and may very well decriminalize marijuana if elected president in 2008. however, only the unified voice of the masses will get the attention of most other politicians. check out the drug policy alliance or the marijuana policy project. google these if you can't find their websites. requier politicians to aquire a spine and do what is right.

  • Dude I'm not...but like they say it takes an organize minority to topple a majority. Not gonna say its gonna be easy but Marijuana is the first step and personal responsibility is something that really needs to be taught to the next generation something we've forgotten

  • Vote for Ron Paul End the drug war and the Iraq war!

  • im independent but im gonna vote for Ron for shure, because independents never win XD stupid 2 party system lol.hope prop 19 passes.

  • If we can get past the view that it's drugs that are the problem and not the mental processes that allow for addiction, then we can stop wasting money on the drug war, and start really helping addicted people.

  • agreed. responsible use of alcohol has become the standard in the United States. no longer can anyone use "well fuck man, i was just drunk" as an excuse for their behavior. same with any other drug. if you can't control yourself while under the influence, just don't do it. drugs are a social problem, not a criminal problem. the black market the laws create are the problem. remember al capone and the tommy gun? you don't see that kind of behavior now that alcohol is legal.
