Part 5 of Cintas Chairman, Dick Farmer giving a speech at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH as part of the university's Distinguished Speakers Series on April 18, 2008. After giving the speech, it was announced that the business ethics school would be renamed the Cintas Institute for Business Ethics.
In Part 5 of Dick Farmer's speech, Dick goes into decision #5, creating a corporate culture. Corporate culture is the glue that holds organizations together by providing cohesiveness among the parts. Corporate culture consists of common language, dress, customs, beliefs, ethics, and values. Every organization has a culture, whether they are aware of it or not.
At Cintas, culture is no accident. Dick Farmer decided early on that he wanted to build a company of honesty and integrity. "Our culture is more important to career development at Cintas than any other factor. No matter how talented an individual is, if they do not match our culture they will not be happy and they will not succeed."
