I'm dedicating this song to my little sister Dot and my good buddy Dogfoodnyc - two singers and generally awesome people I've met thanks to Rock Band - because it's their birthdays today and tomorrow, respectively. Happy birthday!
Team Cena Music is a group of people who met playing music video games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, but who are taking their passion to the next level by trying to learn real instruments - guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, or vocals. Some of us are using the games to teach us (for example, Pro Modes in Rock Band 3), some are taking formal lessons, and some are self-taught. Most of us are using a combination of these methods.
As part of Team Cena Music I will be regularly uploading videos to document my progress in the instrument of my choice: vocals. These will probably be covers but I may also do video blogs to talk about my experiences or instructional videos to demonstrate things I've learned. I will also be blogging about my experiences - when I get started on that I'll provide the link.
If you have a cover request for me, please let me know. I can't promise I'll do it, and it might take a while to get around to it, but I do want to hear your suggestions and if I can comfortably fulfill a request, I will. Also, please bear in mind that if the song is already in a singing game in some form or other I'll be less inclined to do it, so please think outside the box and pick something outside the music game realm if you can. :)
Regarding the audio quality of my covers: My recording situation is far from ideal. I'm still trying to figure out a way to record clear, crisp vocals without any feedback or background noise, so I apologize for any "fuzziness" you hear in the recordings. Also, I make my own backing tracks either by looking for instrumental versions other people have made or, more likely, taking an mp3 of the song and doing some basic manipulations in Audacity to reduce the vocal track (which is not perfect and sometimes causes distortion of the instruments, or leaves an echo of the original vocal). I see this as a learning process, though, so hopefully over time I will find better solutions to these issues and my recordings will improve.
I will probably post all these videos here on my personal channel but I will also definitely be uploading them to the official Team Cena Music YouTube channel. Everyone involved in TC Music will be uploading our videos there so be sure to subscribe if you'd like to follow all of us:

I've never heard the original, but sis... That was lovely! When it first started out, I thought it was a professional singing, no lie. And as I listened more and more, I got chills down my back. XD You did so beautifully in this, sis! Thank you so much! I love it! *hugs* :D

@KSerika So glad you liked it. :) Thanks for the nice comments too. <3

That was quite amazing. Two things:
a) did you play all the instruments or did you get help from others?
b) could you try and do this is as a cover? It's more upbeat but it's kinda got that indie feel (Hall & Oates ~ You Make My Dreams Come True ) :)
But seriously, this made me nearly cry. Which is a hard thing to do. I hope you have a good day :')

@BRboi777 Thanks! The backing track was me taking the MP3 of the song and just manipulating it in Audacity (free audio recording software) to lower the original vocals. I can't play any instruments or program music so it's pretty much the best I can do for now, but I appreciate the nice comments. :)
I grew up when Hall & Oates were actually popular, so they are super nostalgic for me. XD Interesting suggestion - I will keep it in mind!

@gosengo124 Hehe, thanks for going back and reading the description. XD What's weird is that I actually have decent recording software and professional quality microphones. At some point when I have my stuff rigged up better I should probably make a video to show you guys my setup. I honestly think it may be that I only have laptops and they're not powerful enough or the sound cards are too crappy/noisy or something. I'll keep trying different things.
