The Flying Atalanta

Atalanta fugiens, hoc est, emblemata nova de secretis naturae chymica, commonly known as Atalanta Fugiens, or the Flying Atalanta.

Only the epigrams are included in this video, as the discourses are too long for video format.

The Atalanta Fugiens is a manuscript consisting of 50 emblematic diagrams each with its own epigram and discourse. The work is considered by many to be one of the first multimedia productions. Each emblematic diagram had a short musical canon associated with it, composed by Michael Maier.

Published in 1617, the renaissance author Michael Maier, was an alchemist, physician, hermetic philosopher, and Rosicrucian.
