@aaartnaz To the best of my knowledge, no. The soundtrack CD and all official versions otherwise, are reorchestrations. I wish they'd release the original, I love it because of its unique sound (not a musician myself but it has always sounded to me more like an electronic organ/keyboard than a wah pedal).
this version is noticeably different than some of the cd's that were released it sounds like a wah peddle is being used here. by any chance was this EXACT version ever released on cd?
Weird that many don't like this theme. I think it is by far one of the best themes to a bond film. I think it sums up the essence of the espionage genre (even if bond films, bar this one, OHMSS, FYEO and maybe a very few others, represent a poor example... the books are a lot better). The best theme is probably the theme to OHMSS but this may be my second. Either this or Moonraker (a silly film but with a great score). 'We Have All The Time In The World' is probably the best song in a 007 film.
@Tompie913 im sorry but, this sounds like a waltz to me the song is too slow james bond is an action man songs like you only live twice sung beautifully by miss nancy sanatra captured the intrigue of that film perfectly so did the song diamonds are forever. the songs you mentioned all captured the essence of the film this song failed to do that.
Um, have you ever heard a Waltz? A waltz is slow and lingering, this is fast and exciting; it's nothing like a waltz.
This just about exemplifies intrigue and, towards the end at least, action (it is pretty much the Bond theme).
This is absolutely the essence of James Bond, unlike many other of the songs. For example, Live and Let Die - it sounds nice, but it's basically a rock song. Another Way to Die - Alt Rock. How do those suit Bond at all?
@amarsbarr this song lacks that essence of action and intrigue that characterizes james bond all the other james bond intro songs captures the essence of james bond, this intro song sounds like a ballroom waltz.
@doctorw2 why? all the other ones had singing droned in them, this one was pure classic! Just orchestration and a good bond theme by John Barry, how could you have not liked it?????
Whats the best bond theme song in you'r opinion? Mine is maybe view to a kill, but I'll maybe change my opinion after watching and remembering all these other themes first.

@goldbullet50 Goldfinger has the best theme song, although Diamonds are Forever and Live and Let Die are great also.
