A lesson on developing the "Heavy Hand". A topic that could be explored daily for years--it will serve you well & might even make your practice into a meditation as you slow down enough to feel the "space" between each chord.

The Process:
1) Allow the hand to fall, surrender to gravity ("The Force" :) )
2) Float the hand up to the neck of your instrument
3) Allow it to fall from your instrument. FEEL IT RELAX. DON'T RUSH.
4) Apply the heavy hand to a bar chord, allowing gravity to do most of the pushing.
5) Move the shape up the neck (squeeze, release, move)
6) Smile, Breathe, and repeat. Be sure to eat foods you enjoy in between practice sessions.

  • My problem is when you have to bar 3 chords on the 4th fret (G,C,and E) while playing A on the 2nd fret. How do you make you finger thats baring the 3 chords not touch the last chord?

  • @magicmike1122 Not sure i follow your question...can you post a video response to show me?

  • @lj6902 @lj6902 I'm SO happy to hear that! When we learn to relax the hand, amazing things start to happen. More videos to come...if you'd ever like to study privately, I meet with students on Skype too...Be well, Stu

  • Thank you! a great concept to keep in mind. Nice!

  • @DarkHellShoot Cheers! I like the video you sent me!

  • @Sturmhut @Sturmhut Yay! I'm SO glad that you found the video helpful. More lessons and other goodies on the way. Thanks for subscribing. I am traveling now--with my last name being "Fuchs" everyone thinks I'm German & starts speaking Deutsche to me...unfortunately, I don't speak a lick of it :) Be well & happy ukeing, Stu

  • You had me at Costa Rica, I've been trying to play for ten years , i think i just learned more in 8 minutes than the last 2 years Muchos Gracias

  • Thank you so much for this video!! You just delivered my left hand from continuous cramping and my teeth from grinding :)

  • @Nez949 That would be the key of B. A progession called 1-5-6-4. Awesome to hear that it's alittle easier! If you slow down at first & feel the space inbetween each chord, it opens up a world of possibilty for your hand to reach any place with ease. More to come. peace brother.

  • @StUkulele First chord B, then F sharp, G sharp minor, E chord. My hands would get tired after playing the chorus maybe twice because I would be kung fu griping the bar chords the whole time haha. Now my hand does not get nearly as tired because I only apply pressure when I need too. Thanks again Stu! :]
