No, Midnight Lightning is an instrumental, rather resembling Pali Gap, which in turn is inspired by the 'Woodstock experience', that is to say the famous impro's there.
Why is this called Cherokee Mist? It's nothing to do with it if you listen to it on the Axis Outtakes, than it's a gorgeous instrumental, very much Mike Oldfield like.

yes! Its similar. But I prefer this version a lot more it sounds cleaner. I think since this song never came out along with midnight lighning he played altenate versions of it with no problem ;).
