  • Why cannot I help but think that he is less sorry about it all than he should be. He sounds quite proud in this video. If I were he, I would be keeping my face well out of the limelight for shame of it all. Perhaps someone will give him some award now for valour?

  • Well, I did a little more reading on the story. Leeson was duping the bank by falsifying trading account records to show that loses were being taken in customer accounts, when, in fact those customer accounts were phony and the bank was taking the losses. Still, you'd think that someone would be verifying that those accounts were legit before the whole thing went bust.

  • @gflorko regardless if the bank trusted their assets to this clown is besides the point. the fact is he ruined millions of people's lives and was responsible for the collapse of barrings.

i am completely surprised that no one has killed him, i would imagine there had to be that one person who went completely berserk after losing a tonne of $ and decide on murdering nick shitson

  • Any bank that trusted their entire assets to some 20 something kid playing the futures market like a casino got what they asked for. What a complete ass-clown.

  • Yeah too many people knew your position thats why the market went down. Don't think so pal - how about trying - the market was beaking technical levels all the way from 20k and you thought a "geeza"in a stripey jacket could support the whole of the Japanese equity market thru futures because he had some sort of presence on the trading floor.
