I remember a rather early closedown sometime in January or February 1994. It was a Sunday night, and it was listed in the Radio Times as 11.35-11.40pm Weather, followed of course by Closedown.
I think indeed, that this was one of the very last finishes before Midnight.
After that, BBC1 introduced a late film seven nights a week, and Closedown was much later than before I believe.

@MattTheSpratt Sarcasm aside, I've never seen a closedown live since I was too young to be up that late. .___.

TV should be still like this was much better than the crap of today!
My family always turned the electric off when they went out. My father said 'It'll cost us more on our electric bill'
Tight old man.

Lol we used to do that, Put the light on to make them think your in, well the hall light anyway. Liked the bit were the announcer said 'That was a party (laughs) a public information film.'

I read on another of CentralSouth's videos (before the YouTube fascists took it down) that the last pre-midnight closedown was in January 1994.
The commenter didn't mention the date. And Ive seen some other early 1990s closedowns and most of those were pre-midnight closedowns. Maybe They were common in the very early 1990s but became rarer as the early 90s progressed?

That seems to be the case, usually Mondays-Thursdays it would be like 12.00am-ish, but as this edition of MOTD was on at the last minute, I guess closing at 11.55pm was sensible. I taped a few closedowns in 1997 (although I since taped over them) and they were usually after 2.00am on most nights, only one occassion I recall there was a closedown before 1.00am.
