Interesting! I never would have thought that a tranquilizer could mimic psychosis (even thought I've heard ketamine can cause hallucination-like states, or dream states). So she legitimately had dreams whilst awake, huh? More like fantasy thoughts then I suppose? Thanks for the study title, I'd like to read it. :)

@DashOfRainbow Katamine causes/worsens psychosis, it's now used to better understand schizophrenia.
I met woman with Sz, intriguingly, her delusions (visiting alien planets to study their geology) seemed to be due her inability to self-check the truth of her thoughts & ideas, rather then her mind generating delusions i.e. Waking Dream. I'm a geologist.
Lahti, et al., 1995. Subanesthetic doses of ketamine stimulate psychosis in schizophrenia. Neuropsychopharmacology 13(1), 9–19.

Clapping your hands loudly when someone is experiencing something so profound as a trip on LSD was not something I agreed with in this study, but the drawing exercise and description of the effects was probably the most important information. Gaging someone's reaction to a loud noise or disturbance while on such a strong drug is not useful.
I like how the man gave his opinions on his body and surroundings. Likely the most relevant information in relation to actual psychosis

you are correct in the sense that it does not cause psychosis, but for the duration of an LSD trip, as shown here, can mimic symptoms of psychosis. The Messianic feeling and the fear of being taken over, both experienced by the subject in this study, are common symptoms of schizophrenia. However, I am positive that once the LSD wore off, this man did not have lingering psychosis.
The drug really should be studied more, in my opinion.
That researcher is a real buzz-killer.
