Tom with the Missouri Department of Transportation explains the details of the steel being assembled at the AFCO Steel Fabrication facility in Van Buren and Little Rock, Arkansas. You can watch a Senior Bridge Engineer get excited about scale. It's fun. Here is the info: In this video you see the one of the 84 floor beams that will make up part of the floor system of the Christopher S. Bond cable-stay Missouri River Bridge in Kansas City, MO. Each floor beam is 133 feet long and more than 7 feet high. It weighs approximately 500 lbs. per linear foot or 66,500 pounds of total weight. You will also see the edge girder with the Shark Fin Connection. Enjoy!
