you can do more depending on what your goals are. But 8 sprints is adequate enough for allot of sprint competitors.

you could do 8 sprints in the morning in 20 minutes and then in the evening you could do weight training and these two would go perfectly together and you would not be over training. I would not recommend this 7 days a week.

  • @mcfrs

That is not entirely true. Ancient man was accustomed to preforming low intensity extended routines such as running and walking.

Low intensity extended routines such as endurance can be beneficial. I know of marathon runner who do bodybuilding and do not suffer from muscle degradation.

it all depends on the training program that they are involved in.

  • @alleyez

Long distance running does not always lead to muscle loss. It is normally overtraining and extended repeated muscle Fatigue that leads to this.

Marathon runner more exposed to this due to the high mileage training. Not all endure event competitors suffer from this as there routine is designed to avoid this.

doing muscle building training immediately followed by a long run could result in this. But that is not to say that muscle building and running cannot be done at the same time.

  • You can do more than 8 sprints.

  • can i do more than 8 sprints per workout?

  • Look at long distance runners compared to sprinters. Human body wasn't made to run long distances. Short bursts are greater for weight loss without losing muscle.

  • why is that sprint training or interval training makes you lose fat..but long distance running at a slow pace results in mucle loss as well??

  • good analysis
