Demonstration of a stutter effect whenever I aim down the sights of a weapon, when I lean out from cover, or even when accessing a terminal.

My computer specs:
-Windows 7 64-bit
-Intel i7 930 @ 2.8GHz
-12GB RAM
-Crucial RealSSD C300 Hard Drive
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 285

I've tried many different video settings, such as VSync on/off, SSAO off/normal/high, decreasing/increasing resolution, adjusting AA, etc. I've also updated my Nvidia drivers as of 8/30.

The framerate of the game runs very smooth regardless of my video settings, but always has this stutter effect when "zooming". Very frustrating!!!

  • Thanks to a user on the Eidos forums, my problem has now been fixed. For anyone with the same issue, I suggest you try the following:

    Here's what I did:

    1. Uninstall nVidia 3d drivers (since I never use them).

    2. Go to C:\???\Steam\steamapps\common\deus ex-human revolution\redist

    3. Manually install directx and vc, run both as administrator. (right click, go to properties, compatibility tab)

    4. Restart computer.

Aiming is now smooth as silk!

  • Is your framerate dropping when zooming? I have the same problem!

  • @1337keef I don't think it's a normal framerate issue (due to my computer not being able to render quick enough). As I mentioned in the description, this happens regardless of my video settings -- I can set it to a really low resolution, and turn everything to low/off settings, and this effect still happens. This effect and other stutter problems seem to be quite common among a lot of users, and is being discussed in a thread on the Eidos forums. Check the description for the link

  • @GeckoTH Thank you so much. Perfect!

  • @GeckoTH nevermind i missed the exe >.<

  • @GeckoTH Which dx zip file am I suppose to use? I got maybe a 100 of them.

  • I have this too and it is seriously giving me a headache..

  • @GeckoTH Great thank you man! I'll try this right away! :)

  • FIXED. I have a similar system but with an ATI 5870. I had this issue as well. Updating drivers made no improvement. I re-ran the "Deus Ex Setup" from Steam to turn off DX11, but the game would not run in DX10 with my card, instead it gave me an error message. Re-checked DX11, and it still wouldn't run. Went back into Steam and clicked "verify Game Cache" and it re-downloaded a 12.8MB file. Ran the "Deus Ex Setup" again, and made sure DX11 was checked, and it works now, smooth zooming.
