VIDEO#4 Sony NEX-5n with External Mic ECM-SST1.
This is video #3 with ext mic on while panning in a quiet bathroom. Notice the rumble, as if there's a light breeze in the room. One of the reasons I got this mic is ironically to minimize wind noise. The audio is actually quieter without the external mic (see video #2).
This test takes autofocus out of the possible causes as well as OIS (Optical image stabilization) as I have mounted a fully manual lens (old Sears/Pentax lens). Although the rumble is a bit less than my initial video with OIS and AF on, I don't think it's as dramatic enough a drop to say that they are the cause.
I believe it's truly the gain of this mic picking up the micro shake and vibration of my hand holding the camera.
Short of "Easing up on the coffee" I'm not sure what the solution might be....Thoughts anyone?
