At the Closing Ceremonies all the pipe bands form on the field and play together... hundreds of pipes & drums, nicknamed the Mashed Bands by some, but definitely impressive, loud, and enjoyed by the crowds ... this clip is from the 135th annual Gathering & Games, Pleasanton, CA, 3 September, 2000.

One drawback to YouTube is that it "monos" any stereo audio on the videos people upload... the stereo track on this video is way more impressive than the mono on this upload!

UPDATE: Look for the reposted version of this video... then add "&fmt=18" to its URL to hear it in Stereo! (on this version there's no stereo... look for the updated version)

ps: the banner at the end was being flown over the grandstand all during the closing ceremonies.

  • They tend to go for the "crowd pleasers" at the closing ceremonies! :-)

  • Thanks for sharing. I've been wanting GOOD recordings of this gathering for a long time. I've been a regular visitor for years, and always enjoy the Mass Bands the most.
