DemocracyNow.org - In an extended interview with popular British singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg on Democracy Now!, he comments about the recent death of musician Amy Winehouse.

"I am sorry that someone as clearly as talented as her succumbed in that way. In some ways, all of us could see that it was a likely outcome and perhaps more could have been done to help her out. Maybe we were all complicit in that," said Bragg of the star who was known for her hit song, "Rehab," and her Grammy winning album, "Back to Black."

  • Eloquently spoken on a touchy subject. He is right and that we could all see it coming and I didn't know, personally, how to say not to glorify her. I wrote I think it's sad she let her demons she was addicted to destroy her life and control her to the point of her too early demise.

  • Bragg is right. There are no excuses on not seeing the inevitability of drug abuse results

  • where's the sound

  • @SuperJackthehat

Assuming that is even correct & I don't know if it is.... Who gives a shit what house he lives in and what car he drives. I don't think anything was ever handed to Billy on a silver plate & if he has a nice house & nice car now good on him!

In all the years I've followed Billy I'm glad I've paid for a brick or two in that house & a tyre on that car.

Get ya head outta ya ass mate and move on.

  • @SuperJackthehat If you had taken the simple trouble to read my posts you would realise how ridiculous you sound. I am no racist as I have said I don`t care what your colour religion or sexual preference is. I would just prefer it if people got some self respect and did a days work for a days pay, paid THEIR taxes and contribute to society instead of poncing all THEIR miserable lives. I take it you work for a living? I suppose you are now going to tell us you left school at 6 to work in a mine

  • @SuperJackthehat Maybe he should live in a dustbin? That's the only alternative yes?

Just because you have money doesn't mean your comments are invalid. I'm no Bragg fan, but give it a rest with this 'hypocrite' line.

  • @SuperJackthehat either way hes done a lot more than any of us could?please enlighten me if im wrong

  • what a genuinely decent bloke, if only there was more people with his honesty, one of the best songwriters too imo

  • Nothing more powerful than the truth. The math never lies.

  • @rigs345 Why do you hate Billy Bragg?
