The City of Kamloops has officially joined the Daily News Boogie as the event's presenting sponsor. Boogie is a popular community event that promotes participation, activity and healthy living. In 2008, more than 2,500 registrants were joined by thousands of volunteers, friends and family. More than 700 school children participate in Boogie-training within SD73 schools and more than 300 children completed "Mini-Boogie". People of all ages create motivational chalk art or perform for participants along the route. In fact, there are almost as many people entertaining, cheering and photographing Boogie participants as there are walkers and runners.

According to Barb Berger, City of Kamloops Arts and Cultural Services, "Boogie provides an excellent opportunity for artists and entertainers to participate in expressing the spirit of healthy living." entertainers to participate in expressing the spirit of healthy living."

"We are very pleased to formalize our partnership with Boogie," said Byron McCorkell, Director, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services at the City of Kamloops. "This event is much more than a weekend race - it's a year-round movement toward being active and living a healthy life that fits very well with the City's commitment to improve the quality of life in Kamloops by supporting wellness, safety and healthy living for all residents on a daily basis."

Jo Berry, Chair of the Daily News Boogie is thrilled to welcome the City's partnership. "The entire organizing committee of this event is celebrating today. This partnership will undoubtedly grow to become an active force, envied by communities across the country," said Berry. "Kamloops is on its way to becoming the healthiest community in Canada."
