amazing. some brilliant minds at work on that thing. it would be hard to do today, but in the early sixties, i would have looked out of this world

i think this one has a jet engine to comensate for earth's extra gravity: I see no exhaust from the rockets when it floats in the air...

@MrToiletface Who said Armstrong "failed numerous times"? Armstrong crashed only one training vehicle, due to a technical malfunction, not pilot error.
You are the hogwasher.
And, this was not a "test vehicle" for the lunar lander. It's sole purpose was training to verticaly land a rocket propelled vehicle. It had no resemlance with the lunar lander' other than four legs.

@MrToiletface Moon has lower gravity than earth you noob

@MrToiletface Oh dear, does this really need explaining? The lander was specifically designed for use in a vacuum. It proved almost impossible to handle in Earth`s atmosphere(remember Armstrong was a test pilot) as it wasn`t intended for earth use.Try thinking your ideas through before posting!

@MrToiletface ...after practicing this landing on Earth with Earth gravity 100's of times landing on the Moon with it it's 1/6 gravity was like an "off" day for Armstrong.
