An Irish folk song, arranged by Los Angeles Guitar Quartet's Scott Tennant. Scott's sheet music can be purchased online. I learned to play this song by watching some very good Youtube videos and I'm working on transcribing it to tab. *** Drop D tuning ***.

Wild Mountain Thyme is also know as "Will you go Lassie, Go".

Lyrics

Oh the Summer time is coming
And the trees are sweetly blooming
And the wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go lassie go........
And we'll al lgo together
To pull wild mountain thyme
From around the blooming heather
Will ye go lassie go
.
I will build my love a bower
Near yon pure crystal fountain
And on it I will pile
All the flowers of the mountain
Will ye go lassie go............
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
From around the blooming heather
Will ye go lassie go
.
If my true love she were gone
I will surely find no other
Where wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go lassie go...........
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
From around the blooming heather
Will ye go lassie go

  • This is amazing, I love this guitar. Would you mind if I used this and sang over it? In honor of the St. Patrick's Day that I can't celebrate and my grandparents who loved this song.

  • @itsMissFlyVida : you have my permission, use it all you want. thank you for the kind words.

  • This is absolutely charming! who composed it?

  • @lebnene : I just read it on Wiki and it turns out not to be a traditional Irish song and has a copyright:

"written by William McPeake, a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland and first recorded by McPeake in 1957."

  • Maravilhoso seu video....se pudesse ser de guitarra....adoraria linda demais essa musica....

  • A beautiful job

  • It's actually a Traditional SCOTTISH song, which was then "revived by Francis McPeake" - Who is Irish. The song was composed by Robert Tannahill originally...
