I have been teaching Callan Method for 2 years and while i certainly prefer the direct method, there are many faults... It doesn't prepare students for the FC exam, there are too few questions (especially in the later stages where this is really bad), a lot of archaic words and phrases (not to mention idioms that students will never use), word translation errors and precious little grammar explanation. This method is only as good as the teacher and should NEVER be followed strictly.

The Callan Method has been the best method for my students, by far! If anyone has got a better method, please feel free to tell me, as I am open for suggestions. For now, Callan wins hands down! My students are thrilled. Don't listen to people who say they "don't like it". Tough! If it works it works!

Maddening??? I don't think so. Some of my students got a B in the CAE exam. I think you should brush up your English method teaching in case you're an English teacher.lol
