Meg,

Why does your intonation go up at the end of every sentence? Are you making questions?

Hi very good!!!
According to Deborah Tannen, who is a well-known communication researcher in the United States, it is probably because I am female. Intonation that goes down is viewed as more masculine and more assertive. The style is also harder for children to learn from. I work with children and we train our voice to help new learners. In this case, the rise marks the end of a sentence, a sign post for a child. It isn't a good style in other contexts like business, however.
