typical small block chevy valve seal leak not a big problem and easy fix if you have time to do it! My 350 in my 90 scottsdale puffed like that up until the time I traded it in and it only had just over 100,000 on it but I remember when vavoline max life first came out and I used that when I changed the oil and it didn't seem to puff as much on start up.

sorta underwhelming. i mean not even a couple revvs?

You should replace your Oil Control rings. I have leaky valve covers as well, all in all Nice truck my friend.

I think the kit was like $40

yo man i did sell that pontiac but i regret it lol trying to put money into my 78 caddy

Its not hard to change valve seals, all you need is a set of tools and an air hose to spark plug fitting, use compressed air to hold the valves closed while you remove the springs and retainers, then you just replace the seals and reassemble.

Is it for sale?

We had a GMC Safari that burned oil on start up. I think it was an late 80's.

Leaky valve seals. When it warms up it goes away. It's nothing compared to the '85 Chevy Dave has!

Blue smoke though, that isn't good.

Yeah it's got the same problem as the other Chevy we have. Common on the old SBC's. The valve seals leak when the truck sits, so when you go to start it after it's been sitting, the oil from the valve cover area leaks down into the combustion chamber. Once the oil burns off the truck runs clean. You should see the '85 Chevy truck, that thing makes a giant cloud when it starts after sitting.
