Catholicism and Biblical Christianity are divergent religions. They are built on different foundations, and they propose different ways of salvation.

In principle, Christianity is built solely on the Holy Scriptures, the written Word of God. The Bible is our only infallible rule of faith, being sufficient to give us the sure knowledge of the Gospel for our salvation and holiness.

Roman Catholicism demands submission of the intellect and will to the doctrines taught by the Roman magisterium (the Pope and bishops). It is claimed that the Catholic Church derives its doctrines from the "sacred deposit" found in Scriptures and Sacred Tradition. However the faithful cannot verify these doctrines by referring to the original sources. The Scriptures are inaccessible because only the magisterium is able to establish the authentic meaning. Similarly the contents of Sacred Tradition can only be known through the magisterium. Roman Catholicism is mental and spiritual slavery to the Vatican.

As expected, since the foundations are different, so also are the edifices built upon them. Christianity stands on the Gospel of God's sovereign grace. In love, God predestines His chosen ones to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ, their sole mediator. The Son became man and gave His life as a ransom to secure their freedom from sin. Being dead in sin, they are completely unable to convert ourselves or merit God's favour. Therefore God graciously grants His people repentance and faith to turn to Him and trust in Christ Jesus for salvation. Believers are accepted in Christ, solely on the merit of His righteousness and blood, and not because of any goodness or human merit. God also resides in His people by the Holy Spirit, enabling them to obey and glorify the Father, and to guarantee their inheritance in heaven forever.

Rome's "gospel" is not good news at all. The Roman institution, calling itself "The Church", usurps Christ's mediatorial office, proclaiming herself as the "sacrament of salvation." The "Church" dispenses salvation to her faithful in small portions, starting at baptism and continuing throughout life. Forgiveness can only be obtained through the sacrament of penance. The benefits of Christ's sacrifice are accessible through the sacrifice of the Mass. Instead of teaching the faithful to rest in Christ by faith, Catholics are taught to perform religious works to "merit grace" and to do penance to make satisfaction. Even after death, Catholics remains dependent on the "Church" to relieve their suffering in Purgatory by masses and indulgences.

  • @ST4leave It's important to make the distinction between what the Church does and what individual members of the Church do. You're not making that distinction. The Catholic Church has never said that it's ok to murder an innocent human being. Do you have proof that the Church itself ever said killing anyone innocent is ok? In fact, the Church has publicly apologized for various injustices done in the past by members of the Church, who are distinct from the Church as an organization.

  • NO this justifies that on what the church can do. That means the thousand years the church as reigned it has done mass killings of free masons Muslims and countless others in the name of god. By what you are saying that the church can not go against Jesus that means all the murders are not against the teachings, at that point in time it is not a church of Christ. But they are I don’t see how the elites in church that give these orders can do these things, with justifications, he is only a man.

  • @ST4leave God comes before all else as a faithful Catholic. The difference in understanding between you and I is probably what the Church actually is. Catholics believe, as Christians have believed since the death of Christ, that the Church is the body of Christ, and that this body has both a physical aspect and a spiritual aspect, just as you and I have bodies and souls that are intertwined. So to say that the Church can go against Jesus is not possible. Does this make sense?

  • @cburton103 I have question place the order of what is to come first. A ,god, Jesus and the holy spirit, B church, C Family and friends. For me it goes A,B,C. how do you do it.? The way you look in history seems Catholics go B,A,C. If the church goes against Jesus’ teaching isn’t it false.

  • You are an ignoramus.

  • I sense a bit of bias in this description.....unfortunate

  • According to the uploader of this video, Christianity did not exist for the first 1500 years after Christ's death, because Sola Scriptura did not exist until the Reformation. Interesting thought... Can anyone explain why the "true followers of Christ" had such a delay in coming onto the scene, and why Catholics can trace their beliefs all the way to the beginning of Christian history but are for some reason not Christian? God bless.

  • One is founded by Jesus Christ on Peter and his successors, wrote, protected, approved and promulgated the scriptures; is guided by the Holy Spirit as PROMISED by Jesus and continues to this day: the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The other is a dog's breakfast of rebellious sects who believe different things and hold contrary doctrines and is sustained and governed by satan, the Father of Lies and those who false 'christians' who choose to leave the Barque of Peter: 3000+ proto-sects

  • @teamdarkhadou - "What is the difference between Catholicism and Christianity"? Could you be specific about what brand of Christianity you are comparing against Catholicism to?

For example I can ask, "What is the difference between caucasians and human beings?" But then I would need to be specific about what type of human beings I am talking about e.g. mongoloids, negroids etc.

  • i read it all and it could have been made shorter but i got an answer which is good :)
