what program are u using and how much did it cost?

I use a combination of Sibelius 5 for notation and manuscript and Virtual Drumline 2.5 for the sound library. Buying them both retail will cost you around $400, but if you can get something like an educational discount they can be had for around $300, which is what I paid.
Also on the topic, I HIGHLY recommend using Sibelius instead of Finale for notation, especially for percussion-based music. It's just easier to use.

If you're serious about writing for percussion I can't think of any other way, hahah.
Just look up the instruments that come with VDL 2.5 (all of which are Santa Clara Vanguard recordings of actual instruments being played) and you'll be amazed.
