It was a dream Dawson had in the season finale. I have no idea how fans of Dawson and joey are supposed to accept the ending, when we all know they're meant for each other.

dawson and joey are soulmates. This whole show is Dawson and Joey, the fact that they arent together is really sad. Pacey was only good for Joey because when she was with him, she realized how much she cares about Dawson. Im glad i'm not the only one who wants Dawson and Joey at the end together. =[

I was a Dawson and Joey fan all along, when it ended and she chose Pacey, I was extremely disappointed. There were some good moments with her and Pacey but nothing compared to the magic between her and Dawson. They're soulmates.

Me too! However, the ignorance of most P/J fans infuriates me. Most can NOT grasp reality. The show's outcome was NOT about the best couple but rather based on one simple truth. Millions more fans were able to idenitfy with the individual Pacey & Joey charactors. That individual identification drives viewership & viewership ultimatley drives cash flow. Because fans didn't identify with Dawson persuing a D/J couple would be financial suicide- D/J never had a shot.

@jrs666ify When the show was almost died, Greg Berlanti had the idea to create a triangle between Joey/Dawson/Pacey. In order to that stuff worked, Pacey was shown like a good guy who was falling in love, while Dawson was shown like a unwanted third party. That stuff revived the ratings, saving the show, but assassinated Dawson and, anyway, during season 3 the show had just 4.0 millions of viewers, 4.1 in season 4, 3.9 in season 5 and 4.0 in season

@jrs666ify Tammy Ader wanted a "Risky Business" story where Pacey gets Dawson a hooker :( or some touching stories where him saved the creek from industrial pollution :( The executive producer Alex Gansa, wanted, instead, to do dark stories about a promiscuous girl named Eve. Stepakoff wrote: "the ratings were falling. The viewers were disgusted with the campy and arbitrary story lines. As one critic put it, fans felt that the zeitgeist-hip Dawson's Creek was fast becoming a stagnant pond."

@jrs666ify Anyway, if you really have read "Billion dollar kiss" (as you said in an other post), you know that Jeffrey Stepakoff wrote: "When I was hired onto the writing staff a few weeks earlier, Dawson's Creek was the hottest show on television". He wrote also (talking, instead, about season 3): "how did such a promising new show go south so fast?" In his book, Stepakoff tells the mental confusion in the new writers room.

@jrs666ify I think it's right to say a thing. Until proved wrong, seasons 1 and 2 had the highest ratings. 6.6 millions of viewers during season 1 and 5.5 millions of viewers during season 2 (the show lost one million of viewers, that year, especially because of a time change. The WB television, in fact, aired it an hour before compared to the season 1.)

Firstly its all about ratings. By s2 the show was failing due to the viewers dislike of Dawson. Pacey was more popular with the audience and had sparks with Joey. So they changed from DJ to PJ

Secondly, PJ just fit. Great Chemistry Very convincing performances by both actors. After the events of season 3, 409, 414, 614, 615 to list just a few, how can anyone believe Joey belonged with Dawson. So what was initially a script change for ratings, created one of the greatest tv couples of all time.

The person who made this video is a ROCKSTAR!!! I never got over the fact that Joey chose Pacey over her True Love and Soulmate Dawson! Stupid Writers 'KEVIN WILLIAMSON' made so many awesome movies like SCREAM but did something so stupid.. Joey ending up with Pacey - I mean the guy lost his virginity with his Highschool teacher, c'mon! I hope there's a DC REUNION and Joey + Dawson = FOREVER!
