Just one thing, this isn't a Roots gig, they did play the festival earlier the same day, but this particular gig was listed as Questlove's Superjam, more so this is actually the a D'angelo gig featuring The Soultronics and Soulquarians...thanks again for this great video and can't wait for more!

good head's up. Do you know who the guitarist is with the trench coat? He was amazing, and played in the style of my favorite guitarist from the Deep City label in the 60s & 70s.... could that possibly be him? I read that recent GQ article that said D'Angelo is thinking about calling his band The Spades. Sounds kind of offensive, but what a great group of musicians!

Looks very similar, and he did play, but he was on the other side of the stage. As others have posted, the guy's name is Jesse Johnson, and he played with Morris Day & The Time. Jaw dropping funk coming out of that dude.

This is why we must go back and learn and protect our American music no matter what genre because the Europeans surely knows, they love anything soulful and can name it and praise it !!!! Dam shame on Americans no matter the race- It is the GREAT Jesse Johnson from the Time, he used to be friends with Prince / Morris as kids. He had a great solo career, awesome live performer then again who isn't from Minneapolis.
