James, JEJ is a major hero of mine. I read his book 'Wing Leader,' and it is one of my most prized books. His desperate fight with a FW 190 over Dieppe is engraved on my mind. JJ flew his MK V to the very limit against the 190 and used every trick in the book. He escaped by diving on a RN destroyer which opened up with all it's flak guns, this caused the FW to break off. His account is superb, puts the reader in the cockpit- my palms were sweating reading about the FW bout! A great British hero!

Me too - got the book. He died in 2001.
