A Tribute to My Grandma

Beverly Van Rheenen
Oskaloosa. Beverly J. Van Rheenen, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday night, March 5, 2006, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born August 25, 1930, in Oskaloosa the daughter of Herman Lester and Retha Fern Ballenger Sonderegger. On June 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Marion Van Rheenen in Newton, Iowa, he died December 31, 2001. After their marriage Beverly was a homemaker. She was a member of the Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. She worked as a volunteer at the snack bar in the Hospital. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's athletic events, and baking.

Her family includes two sons: Stephen Van Rheenen of Oskaloosa, and Terry (& Kim) Van Rheenen of Tucson, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Shawn, Jamie, Stacy, and Justin (& Terase) Van Rheenen.

Besides her husband, Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Robert Sonderegger, and a sister: Shirley Hauenstein.

Funeral services for Beverly Van Rheenen will be held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with the Reverend Don DeGlopper officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning after 10 a.m. and the family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 -- 8 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Oskaloosa Athletics.

My Grandma died a couple years ago, and I still haven't gotton over it. She was born on March 15, 1919, she died on Palm Sunday 2009. I cry every night, whenever I see a piece of her jewelry, furniture, or even her perfume. I love her so much. She was my 2nd Mother. She was my best friend and the only person in the world I could trust, with anything. I was the last person in the family to be with her. My family went to church and I stayed with her. 2 hours after I left, she died. :(

Very sad. I lived with my brother who joined the military and we lived on base.

He got shot and i didn't know what to do. He was the closest to me in the family.
