Must find Grushenka! Must get 3000 rubles! These scenes are from the 1969 Soviet movie version of "Brothers Karamazov." Dmitri is played fabulously by Mikhail Ulyanov.
(Fun fact: In a 1994 version of "Master and Margarita," Ulyanov played Pontius Pilate. In the 2005 "Master and Margarita" miniseries, Pontius Pilate is played by Kirill Lavrov, the fellow who plays Ivan Karamazov in this version of BK.)

  • Do the subtitles come in the movie or did you add them?

  • I couldn't find any subtitled version of the movie, so I added them using Windows Movie Maker.

  • @Arminiushoff :where did you find the movie with subtitles?

  • This Dmitri looks like he'd make a good Professor Woland. Smerdyakov looks right on though!

  • Do you have the full version of the Brothers Karamazov Trailer with the english subtitles I would love to watch it It is beautifully filmed

  • I have English subtitles for the complete movie.

  • [to Uxoriouswidow]

Yes, that's true too. This Dmitry seems altogether different from the one in the book.

  • Yes, this looks good, but for some reason, Dmitry doesn't seem to fit the description....shouldn't he have dark hair?

  • so much better than the fucking 1958 movie*shivers*

  • OHhh, i love this book, and today i downloaded this film, but i only just have subtitles in romanian, any body knows where y can find the english subtitles??

  • This movie is a masterpiece (and the novel too, of course). And you have done a great job making these subtitles. It is very useful for everybody interested in Dostoevsky who don't understand Russian.

I merely want to notice that in the episod where Fyodor Pavlovich thinks that Grusha is coming he doesn't say "I'll give you money". He says "I'm here alone, alone" instead.

    Maybe, you'll correct this.

    Thank you
