The Cote Family met with the media at an emotional press conference in Buffalo, NY today, Just one day after Jonathon Cote's body was positively identified by the FBI.
Cote, an army veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan returned to Iraq to work as a private contractor in 2006. He and four other contractors were taken hostage in Iraq in November, 2006 by rebels posing as Iraqi police officers.
Last month, the bodies of Cote's four co-workers were found in southern Iraq. Previously, the severed fingers of some of the hostages — including Cote — had been sent to American authorities in Iraq. Cote's body was the last of five hostages' remains to be recovered.
The body was identified by authorities at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, and the autopsy results have not been provided to the family according to Jonathon's Father, Francis.
Authorities have not disclosed how the bodies were recovered or what condition they were in. No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions or the purpose behind them.
@xxxxsjdxxxx I won't pretend to know his reasons but I will tell you this. I know what it's like to serve in the line of fire. I know what it's like to be shot at and I know what it's like to shoot at people. It's the hardest thing in the world for a humane person to be able to do and it takes courage that you never know you had until you actually find it in that one single moment and I pray and honor every brother who has given his life, for whatever the reason be.

@xxxxsjdxxxx Don't pretend to know what is going on and don't pretend to know WHY he was over there doing his job. I don't know and neither do you. He may have been an adrenaline junky, he may have wanted to get paid but many contractors provide provisions and help to military troops, train Iraqi military, protect food shipments, help children and thousands have a kind heart. I have not forgotten you Jon, nor any of the others. None of you deserved the treatment you received from the Iraqis who tortured you and it sickens me to think the Kuwaiti owners of Crescent benefitted from your kidnapping. Thanks for being there for us. I wish the story had a different ending.

yeah I guess some iraqis hate americans and some rely on them to protect them..at the end of the day, holding someone hostage, violating them, torturing them and beheading them is totally unacceptable..people who do that aren't welcome in society at all!

He came to Iraq to make money, whey innocent where getting killed. Im not sure i would call him a "hero". Im not saying that he was a bad person, but he knows that people like him are not welcome.
