The Autonomous Virtual Reading Teacher (AVRT) is a prototype of an interactive reading environment where a virtual teacher guides users through the process of reading. The teacher uses speech and gesture to interact with the user, and is capable of detecting poor reading performance and providing assistance. The system is designed to support a wide range of languages.
The project was developed at Reykjavik University, CADIA Lab,(2009 - 2010) by B.Sc. student Gunnar Valgardsson, and advised by Kristinn Thorisson and Hannes Vilhjalmsson.
