  • I too remember the sound of a Deltic roaring on full chat and blast from the horn through Grantham, especially when going south from the curve prior to the station, happy memories.

  • I remember standing on Grantham Station at 0200-0300 in the middle of Winter listening to that spine tingling sound for a good 5-10 minutes as a Deltic climbed towards Stoke Tunnel on its way South with a 15 coach sleeper bound for KX. The ECML is now such a silent place and with the passing of these great locomotives.

  • Well said, love your sentiment! I remember hearing deltics coming from Newark on a cold night. That wonderful sound is just the right pitch to carry on a night breeze!

  • I dont know how anyone can fail to be impressed by such a fantastic sounding and looking locomotive ! Sends a shiver down your spine ! Pure Magic !

  • God ! i remember this sound and sight as if it were Yesterday ! Simply Awesome Locomotives and how i miss them !

  • Top clip and great sound.
