fjazzfjazz thankyou. Your description of him as a sound mixer is perfect, and so much better than his own description of himself as composer.

I truly admire that he openly talked about the edits he did on his recordings because his goal was to deliver the best music possible, not pose as an virtuoso or something like that. Music comes first. If you think about it, it entails a big paradigm shift, from "music to entertain" to "music to listen to".
