isn't Sally supposed to be 19? most teenagers (im one myself) ARE over dramatic and self indulgent. I think this version of Sally is right on the money for capturing that.

It's disheartening to see so many people complaining that she's too muscular. Is that really what you noticed? Not how fabulously she delivered "Cabaret"? Not the way completely ironic the song is? Not how obviously well-trained she has to be to sing that way every night without hurting herself? You noticed how muscular she is. Let's just bash her for taking a risk with the character and not doing as her predecessors while we're at it.

The Emcee's voice is amazing. Even if he is dressed as a woman.

@emdes329 - Purely a matter of opinion, of course. Sally *CAN* be talented, or she can be talentless. I'm sure you know quite well that there are plenty of talented people who never make it to stardom, and they DO end up in places like Ms. Bowles'. Jane's depiction of Sally is, in my opinion, thoroughly overacted and far more melodramatic than it needs to be. Of course, I find Liza's far too flippant. Bowles is a difficult part to play, and not all of those cast can pull it off.

7:40 is pure theatrical magic.

I saw Cabaret on Broadway at 54 a half a dozen times... I definitely like this Sally Bowles. There's a lot of realism yet she's so charismatic. One of the best!

I really like Janes performance in this part of the show. It is so powerful!

@fossegoat I thought it would have been from rough sex ....

@SchiffThomas Drug use
Everyone who's saying "she's off key" "i wish she had sang this song" "her voice sucks", etc - YOU'RE SO FUCKING IGNORANT. Sally is not supposed to be talented. There is a reason why she is working at a shady club in Germany. She has so many walls up in the show and this is the breaking point where she lets her walls down. This performance is so genuine and real. One of the best versions of this song I've ever seen. Its so raw and honest, I absolutely love it.

I love Liza, but the stage version is sooooo much better than the movie... it was an awful adaptation!
