Here is a pass by a 2007 Cobalt from the test & tune before the final race of the season at the local track. This shot is a quick one just trying to dial in the suspension.
@leehaskle If you cut straight up the quarter panel from the center of the wheel opening about 3 inches, cut left far enough that you go a couple inches in front of the wheel opening and then straight down to the bottom of the quarter panel. Then, if you want the opening 3 inches wider you cut out 3 inches of the metal in front of what you just cut, place the first piece in its place, then you just fabricate a piece in the 3"gap at the "new" top of the wheel opening and weld it all together.

hey i have a question how did you make the wheel opening bigger in the back and still make it look stock?
