The key is opening your mind and just listening to their opinion. You can keep your opinion, though you are simply seeing it from a different perspective. It's simply a way to learn more information and viewpoints from others.

letting my guard down and absorbing another person's views feels dangerous. i'm afraid that if i do someone's worldview will overtake mine and i'll lose myself. that happens to me regularly. ex. if i have an opinion and a random person has another i can't keep mine intact. even if it's entirely logical and and supported by a multitude of evidence. i just can't see it the same way. especially if it's about my body, intelligence or self worth. i have to isolate myself emotionally to be safe.
