I am an advocate of legal purchase of music and supporting of the artist, but I feel that their charges for ringtones are ridiculous, not to mention the data you are charged just for browsing.

Here is the link to the software you will need for this particular method:
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/

It is good software with lots of capability, and I recommend purchasing it. However, there is a trial period available. Unfortunately I have only found it for Mac, but I am sure that there is an alternative for Windows. If any one finds one, let me know and I will post the link to download.

After you have recorded the snippet of audio and edited the start and stop points, open up your library and rename your recording if you please, at which point you want to email the file.
***This is the important part****
To get this file to your phone, you will need to put your number, including the area code, like so:
*yournumber*@vzwpix.com

You should receive the sound as a PIX message, at which point you should be able to choose the "Save as Ringtone" function.

That's it. It's very simple and most of all free and unlimited!! I'm actually not sure about the cost for receiving pix messages but you can get AT LEAST 8 for the price of verizon's ripoffs!!!

  • Wow a way easier way thats with no download to do this is going on Tube2tones,com there you can get youtube music videos and get the part you want as a ringtone and send it to your phone in 3 different ways.

  • cool, but what about songs from itunes or sound files you have on your computer already not on youtube?

  • then u put them on youtube -_-

  • well whatever works for you i guess

  • is alltel the same thing as verizon?

  • depends on your area. It would be a good idea to call your provider and see.
