kEntwan BALMER having his #90 Weldon Chargers high school football jersey retired at halftime of a varsity boys basketball game at Weldon High on Feb. 11, 2011 in Weldon, NC could conjure links to Balmer’s athletic legacy through his playing in college for the UNC Tar Heels and turning one year old the day UNC men’s basketball player Scott Williams’ parents died in a shocking murder-suicide on OCT. 15, 1987. I couldn’t help but notice: Seattle Seahawks DT KENtwan Balmer had his No. 90 high school football jersey retired at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game at Weldon High School, his alma mater in Weldon, NC. The honor came 8, 885 days after Balmer’s birth (24 yrs., 3 months, and 27 days). It’s ironic that Balmer was honored at halftime of a boys BASKETBALL game considering other links in his athletic legacy—specifically, his time playing in college for the North Carolina Tar Heels
