the ballad of the sailing men lost throughout the years

i will be worn with the western wind that blows unto my ears
the stories of the sailing men lost throughout the years
and all the wives and families that lost so many tears
for the hundreds of sailing men lost throughout the years

and if I should sail the western waves looking for my feed
i'll sing a song to the sailing men lost throughout the years
for all the fish lying in the sea could never fill the need
of the hundreds of sailing men lost throughout the years

so we'll sing a prayer before we sleep and pray the gods be near
the hundreds of sailing men, with dawn we'll hold them dear
may the waters be clear as glass and may the night know them no fear
may they be carried home by the sailing men lost throughout the years

i will be worn with the western wind that blows unto my ears
the stories of the sailing men lost throughout the years
and all the wives and families that lost so many tears
for the hundreds of sailing men lost throughout the years

  • @therockyjones - i added the lyrics as i wrote them to the commentary... its not so much an unfinished piece as a piece with its own mood swings! like with almost everything i sing, the lyrics tend to change regularly - there is a studio version on the lord altmont album which was released as a short run of 500 a few years ago, and like i said, i hope to revisit this project in the not-too-distant future.

  • where can I find this song?thxx

  • @sarazapping right here!!!

"the ballad of the sailing men lost throughout the years" is part of "lord altmont" (my project that represented ireland @ 2008 biennale) - it's not finished, but i hope to get it done in 2012, after "le grand discours".

"believe" is a song that i haven't managed to record convincingly yet, so its unreleased - we'll keep at it til we get it right, but no sense in rushing these things and doing a shitty job - when the song is ready to come out and play, we'll play!

  • @floatinghome -- I've been trying to transcribe the lyrics to Sailing Men. I guess I would be transcribing an unfinished piece? First saw it on Balcony TV. Do you expect a studio version to eventually happen?

  • I look forward for it! its so beautiful Aidan. Magical :)
