This is a video of myself and a 12 year old ex-standardbred pacer. her show name is Cam's JuJu Bean (with great grandsire was Cam Fella) when she raced, she was abused; this included fire-pinning, beating and neglect. ive been working with her on and off since october of '08; and only about a month and a half constantly. ive been working with her headset, with draw reins as you can see in this video, so we can show competitively (hopfully) with the quater horses.. she learns so incredibly fast because ive only been working on her headset for about 3 wks. she has it pretty well at the walk, but her trot still needs a TON of work. she doesn't canter quite yet, as her muscles need to build up diagonally before i can train her at the canter. my position and steadiness arent the best in this vid because she doesnt have smooth gaits; and she is also not and easy horse to ride.

  • oh yea i know, but its extra bad cause she was abused, it took a long time for her to trust me. and im not sure about it know, but for a really long time she wouldnt let a man anywhere near her.

  • that's not a STB thing, that's just a mare thing XD

  • haha she wasnt on the track for 12 yrs, but only until she retired (im not sure when exactly)

um, she's not mine; i have been working to re-train her for her owner. she has come such a long way tho. i love her to death; she's a b-word to almost everyone and the horses "/ but oh well, we're working on that.

  • For being on the track 12 years she is wonderful, he headset is really good, just make sure to work her outside the draw reins every once in a while, (it helps her develop the muscle better on her own), but her trot is pretty dang good for being a racer. You're doing great with her, where'd you get her from?
